Easter fun around the ‘Ham

Hippity Hoppity, Easter is on its way! April 21 to be exact, but before the bunny arrives, here are some events around Birmingham to celebrate.
April 6: Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market
Oak Mountain State Park, 200 Terrace Drive, Pelham
9am-5pm. The park will host the 12th annual event with over 25,000 eggs filled with candy, stickers and toys. The Easter Bunny will be there for pictures at no cost. Complimentary hay rides and inflatables, yard games and more. Pony rides available for $5. Local artisans will be selling Easter and spring themed goodies. Food vendors and food trucks. The last hunt of the day will be for dogs.
April 6: Community Wide Spring Fling
Medders Family Farm, 6306 Highway 25, Montevallo
10am-2pm. Entry is free, but there will be a raffle, vendors, and games to play, so bring cash or cards. Easter egg hunt for kids up to age 5 at 11am, and ages 6+ at 1pm. April 7: Funny Bunny Breakfast
Helena Hollow, 6027 County Road 17, Helena
8am. Enjoy breakfast, baby farm animals, photos with the Easter bunny, petting zoo access, face painting, crafts and more. Visit helenahollow.com.
April 7, 13-14: Bunny Hop 2019
Helena Hollow, 6027 County Road 17, Helena
10am-6pm. This event will feature an egg hunt, slides, swings, animals, crafts, music, prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny! Visit helenahollow.com.
April 13: Homewood Parks Easter Egg Hunt
This will be the second annual evening hunt for toddlers up to age 11. The hunts will be divided by age groups: 1-2 years, 6:30pm; 3-4 years, 6:30pm; 5-6 years, 7:05pm ; 7-8 years, 7:45pm; 9-11 years, 7:45pm. Hunt for ages 7-11 years to begin at dark. Bring a flashlight!
The event will also feature prizes, games, bounce houses and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Find out more at homewoodparks.com.
April 13-14: Cottontail Express Train Rides
Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, 1919 9th Street, Calera
Take a ride on the train to Peter Cottontail’s Meadow to hunt for Easter eggs. Other activities include a bounce house, coloring station, sandbox, a visit from the Easter Bunny and more. The event lasts an hour and a half and rides will be at 10am, 1pm and 3pm Saturday and 1pm and 3pm Sunday.

April 13-14: Easterfest 2019
Griffin Farms, 826 Griffin Road, West Blocton
11am-4pm. Two days of fun at the farm! Admission is $10/person for ages 2 and over. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos, kids can hunt for eggs, and pony rides. LOTS of other activities for all ages, some free and some available for an additional cost. There are a lot of details, so search “Griffin Farms Pumpkin Patch” on Facebook and check out their page for all the details.
April 13, 14, and 20: Bunny Patch
4D Family Farm, 7182 County Road 703, Cullman
10am-5pm. Head to the farm for a relaxing egg hunt. Take a hayride to their field full of eggs, where you will see some bunnies and get 12 eggs.Exchange the eggs for a yummy bag of candy, so all children will get the same amount of candy without having to worry while hunting. There is also a scavenger hunt where children will find an egg hidden in hay at each activity. Learn more at 4dfamilyfarm.com.
April 20: Easter Eggstravaganza at the Birmingham Zoo
2630 Cahaba Road, Birmingham
10am-12:30pm. Guests are invited to kick-off the Eggstravaganza celebrations at Breakfast with the Easter Bunny! The event will host two times at 8am and 9:30am and will be held in Nourish205. Enjoy a scrumptious scrambled egg, pancakes and sausage breakfast with orange juice and coffee followed by a visit from the Easter Bunny! All children receive a special holiday gift upon arrival. The children’s eggs are empty and can be redeemed for bunny ears. An egg hunt for adults will take place at 11:15am with prizes valued at $50 or more. Make sure to take your child’s Easter basket to gather all their eggs in. If you don’t have a basket, use a sand bucket or even a reusable bag. Happy Hunting!

April 4: 3rd annual Drink & Drop: Adult Egg Drop Competition
Vulcan Park and Museum, 1701 Valley View Drive, Birmingham
5:30-8pm. Vulcan Park and Museum’s Junior Board hosts teams and individuals to attempt the classic elementary student competition by building a contraption to keep an egg safe after falling from Vulcan’s 124-foot pedestal.
