When the Homewood Public Library changed their catalog computer system to one operated on iPads, it opened up space for them to get creative. “We love to balance screen time and reading time in our library, and I think this Reading Nook helps us achieve that goal,” said Laura Tucker, director of children’s services for the library.
The Homewood Library Foundation funded the $15,000 project. The reading nook, as they call it, invites parents to sit with their children and read to them, giving them more quality one-on-one time and less screen time.
The library is open from 9am-9pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; 9am-6pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; and 2-6pm on Sundays. Visit them at 1721 Oxmoor Road in Homewood.
